The Federal Yodel Festival in Basel is now behind us.
It was an impressive and enjoyable festival for everyone involved, despite the extreme heat, which made the days even more challenging.
The Magden Alphorn Group received a very good grade of 2. A great achievement the whole group can be proud of. Particularly pleasing was the strong sense of togetherness: 7 female and 4 male alphorn players from the Magden Alphorn Group performed together before the jury.
It was just as wonderful to see familiar faces and friends from the yodeling, flag-swinging and alphorn communities again, and to make new acquaintances too.
Bravo, well done!

The Magden Alphorn Group
The Magden Alphorn Group was founded in Magden in 1997. Urs Keigel took over as the group’s director in 2021. The group is a member of the Northwestern Switzerland Alphorn Association. We regularly take part in alphorn competitions. The group operates without bylaws or a board. Our shared love of alphorn music makes this simple organizational structure possible. Today, the Magden Alphorn Group has 8 men and 7 women. Over the course of the year, we perform around 10 times as a group or in smaller ensembles (usually as an alphorn trio).
These performances are usually played in F-sharp on 3.36-metre alphorns.
The Magden Alphorn Group rehearses every Tuesday. Currently at 6:30 pm in the community hall in Magden.
Magden is located in northwestern Switzerland, between Maisprach and Rheinfelden, about 20 km outside Basel.
