When the echo of our alphorns returns, it fills us with joy and contentment. It's a wonderful feeling to send the sounds out into nature and hear the harmonious reverberation. In these moments, we feel the power of the alphorn and the joy it brings us.

Spring awakening at the Magden Alphorn Group – rehearsals and performances

The Magden Alphorn Group is starting the outdoor season full of energy after the winter. Our weekly rehearsals now take place outdoors at the Magden hunting lodge at 6:30 pm. The warmer temperatures make playing music together particularly enjoyable.

We currently have 8–12 enthusiastic alphorn players at rehearsals. Our focus is on preparing for the Swiss Yodeling Festival in Basel from June 26th to 28th, 2026, where we will present a total of seven performances to a jury.

  • 3 Solos
  • 3 Trios
  • 1 performance by the Alphorngruppe Magden with 11 alphorn players

We are supported, corrected and trained by Anna Rudolf von Rohr, who strengthens our group with great commitment and expertise.

In Basel, around 12,000 active yodelers, alphorn players and flag throwers will perform – an unforgettable experience that we are very much looking forward to.

Before the Swiss Yodeling Festival, two special performances are also on the program. On Saturday, June 6, 2026, the Magden Alphorn Group will participate in the season opening on the Brienzer Rothorn, providing the musical accompaniment for the event with their alphorn sounds. A week later, on June 14, 2026, we can be heard on the Moléson, where we will have the pleasure of providing musical entertainment for visitors throughout the day.

These performances offer us an ideal opportunity to present our repertoire to an audience and to get in the mood together for the Swiss Yodeling Festival in Basel.

After that, we'll take some time to rest before things get active again on the national holiday, August 1st.

We look forward to an exciting summer season full of alphorn sounds, joint rehearsals and unforgettable performances.
