Urs Keigel, Magden AG
Leader of the Magden Alphorn Group
Local course leader.
My Alphorn: Made by alphorn maker Johannes Schranz, Achseten near Adelboden, 1998. I would like to give you a brief insight into my journey with the alphorn. In 2015, I began playing this fascinating instrument and took lessons with Robi Blumer. Thanks to his guidance, I was able to progress quickly and deepen my passion for playing the alphorn. In 2019, I completed my training as an instructor, which gave me the opportunity to pass on my knowledge and skills. Since then, I have participated in various yodeling festivals with the alphorn group, both in trios and duos, as well as solo. These performances were not only a challenge for me, but also a wonderful opportunity to share the joy of music with others. My alphorn comes from Johannes Schranz in Achseten, and I am proud to play such a high-quality instrument. The sound and quality of the alphorn contribute significantly to my musical expression. Currently, I am the director of the Magden Alphorn Group and am participating in a conducting course for alphorn groups. This advanced training allows me to further develop my skills as a conductor and lead the group even more effectively. I look forward to the upcoming challenges and to continuing to experience musical highlights together with the Magden Alphorn Group. Warm regards, Urs Keigel

My favorite item: Mini Chueli and much more.
My alphorn: Bernatone Alphornbau Niederbipp (von Allmen)
I discovered and became fascinated by the alphorn at the age of five. However, my musical journey began with the piano, which provided me with a solid musical foundation. A great wish of mine came true on my tenth birthday when I received a trial alphorn lesson as a gift. It didn't stop there. Under the guidance of Ruedi Bauriedel, I acquired valuable knowledge and skills in playing the alphorn and later in teaching it, which I have been enthusiastically sharing ever since.
I work at the Wallierhof Education Center, on the estate as an agricultural worker, and I am also continuing my education in agriculture. Despite the demanding work as a farmer, I still find time for the alphorn.
I also greatly enjoy playing in the alphorn trio "Bim Gogel" with Urs and Regina. The trio is based in Hemmiken, Basel-Landschaft. Despite the great distance between us, we find a way to make music together. For me, the most beautiful moments aren't on the competition fields, but rather the moments when we stand together at the edge of a forest and can enjoy the sunset while playing.
I am happy to support the Magden Alphorn Group whenever time allows, which, due to my continuing education, isn't very often at the moment. The excellent camaraderie within the group, and the enduring joy of playing the alphorn, deserve special mention. I have great respect for the local instructor, Urs, and the assistant instructor, Regina, who consistently lead the group to success with great dedication and despite various obstacles.

Karl discovered his love for the alphorn about 30 years ago. This decision has enriched not only his own life but also the lives of those around him. As a founding member of the Magden Alphorn Group, he has made a significant contribution to the group's development and success. Over the years, Karl has not only honed his own skills but has also encouraged and mentored many young musicians. His commitment to alphorn playing and passing on traditions is admirable and has left a lasting impression on the community.
