The Alphorn Group Magden
The Alphorn Group Magden was founded in Magden in 1997. Since 2021, the Magden group has been led by Urs Keigel, a local course instructor. The group is a member of the Northwestern Switzerland Alphorn Association. It regularly takes part in alphorn competitions.
The group operates without bylaws or a committee, which makes it easy to organize.
The Alphorn Group Magden currently has 5–6 men and 4–5 women. Over the course of the year, we perform around 10 times as a group or in smaller ensembles (mostly as an alphorn trio). We usually play in the key of F-sharp on 3.36-meter alphorns.
The Alphorn Group Magden rehearses every Tuesday. At present, rehearsals take place in the community hall in Magden, and in summer, in fine weather, at the hunting lodge from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. Feel free to drop by if you’re interested.
Magden is in Northwestern Switzerland, between Rheinfelden and Buus and Maisprach, about 20 km outside Basel.
