Anna Rudolf von Rohr

Anna Rudolf von Rohr, Selzach, SO

Coach, Magden Alphorn Group

Local course instructor, judge

My favourite piece: Mini Chueli and many more.

My alphorn: Bernatone Alphornbau Niederbipp (von Allmen)

I discovered the alphorn at the age of five, and it fascinated me. However, my musical journey began with the piano, which gave me a solid musical foundation. A great wish came true for my tenth birthday when I was given a trial alphorn lesson. It didn’t stop at that one lesson. Under the guidance of Ruedi Bauriedel, I gained valuable knowledge and skills in playing the alphorn and later in teaching it, which I have been delighted to pass on ever since.

I work as an agricultural assistant on the farm at the Wallierhof Education Centre, and I’m continuing my studies in agriculture. Despite the demanding work as a farmer, I still find time for the alphorn.

I also take great pleasure in playing in the alphorn trio “Bim Gogel” with Urs and Regina. The trio is based in Hemmiken, Baselland. Despite the considerable distance between us, we find a way to make music together. For me, the best moments aren’t on the competition stages, but the times when we stand together at the edge of a forest and enjoy the sunset as we play.

I’m happy to support the Magden Alphorn Group whenever time allows, although with my ongoing professional development, that isn’t very often at the moment. What stands out in particular is the great camaraderie in the group and everyone’s enduring joy in playing the alphorn. I have great respect for our local course instructor Urs and deputy course instructor Regina, who lead the group to success with great commitment despite various challenges.
